I thought this tree on the wall was kind of pretty. Please forgive me for springing this before Halloween, but it looked friendly.

Out and about with lighting.

This is absolutely exquisite. This shade of turquoise is so captivating to me. I am trying to imagine this dimmed with no other lights on at night.
I have , after being back and forth on this one, decided I like it. The metallic finish I think, helps it not to be too encroaching. What do you think?

These are playful but still grown up enough to hold their own. They remind me of pieces from a European lighting firm called Aqua.

This too would be pretty dimmed down..... lots of sparkle.

Edith Head died in 1981 of a progressive and rare blood disease, myeloid metaplasia, two weeks after completing work on her last film, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid. She left her estate to the Motion Picture and Television Fund and to other charitable organizations aiding Native American children and her beloved animals. Her funeral was attended by hundreds, including not only Hollywood’s stars but also the backlot people. A Paramount security guard dressed in a uniform designed by Edith Head mused, “I remember her real well. At Christmas she took care of everyone on the lot. She was the greatest designer in the world. Edith Head was quite a girl.” And that she was.

Edith Head. Say no more!

Edith Head is one of my favorite costume designers from the greatest days of Hollywood. She won 8 Oscars and was nominated for 35. She had a trademark for all the great dancers that I love. She would hand dye the shoes and socks of the male dancers so there would be one continuous flow of the leg, not broken up by unnecessary lines. She worked in 1131 films which is just jaw dropping. Some you probably recognize are White Christmas, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Seven Year Itch, Sabrina ,Roman Holiday , The Caddy, Houseboat with Sophia Loren, one of my faves, I love Lucy and The Greatest Show on Earth.... just to mention a few. She was eccentric, but apparently very diplomatic and went out of her way to be inclusive with her staff, which I love.

Love this eye candy of a movie, "To Catch a Thief" What a gorgeous film! Set Decoration is dizzying and Edith's finery on these two top notch actors puts it over the top.





I love her quirky,"I know who I am" look.




Breakfast at Tiffany's would not have been the film it is without Edith. Can you imagine?

Colefax and Fowler Interior Inspirations

I really couldn't disagree more. There is a not to be underestimated beauty and serenity that comes with white. I am passionate about color but I keep it to things that can be changed. White never gets old. What are your thoughts on this quote?
