Wednesday's views.

Love this office! The inspiration board is twice the size of mine and looks less ominous. hmmm. edit edit edit.
Mine and the love of my life's initials side by side. I like that.

More passionfruit.

Some hand dyed silk scraps.

more inspiration board..

Three pictures that just belong together.

tiny nook in my studio area. I love this photo of my mom. I colored her lips in when I was 13. Such a dork I was.

a few of my weapons of choice. ha ha

more images I thought belonged together. I transferred the images on to plaster covered stone.

Thrift shop find and some lovely metallics in different colors.

Just no reason for posting this except it makes my heart go pitty pat!

I just felt the exhilarating whiff of Fall in the air today. I immediately thought of our old fireplace and how much I miss it. Tealights are just not the same.

I found something to do with my vintage luggage collection. This is Finnigan Otis, my sweet pup pup.

This room looks like so much more than a bathroom. I love the airy chandelier.

White vintage ware has so many ways of dressing up a room.
Really a hodge podge of photos. Hope you liked them.

My 100th post!

Actually I passed my 100th post which makes this kind of anticlimactic, but I had been looking forward to it and realized it just went by. I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have stopped by and been so encouraging and kind. I have been inspired by your blogs and really enjoy being here. Thank you again

Design Quote for Tuesday

"Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style."

Billy Baldwin

One more floating home in Dubai

Floating homes have come a long way since Sophia Loren and Cary Grant fixed up that disastrous looking one in the movie Houseboat.
This one is however in to the millions.

I have to say tho, I could handle this. This is my favorite table shape. What a perfect room for a beautiful sunset and a some Chet Baker.

Wow!! I love how metropolitan this feels, like an uptown penthouse, but still not encroached upon by streets and cars and noise. It's a contradiction of city dwelling all by itself.
So chic!

I laugh out loud at the outrageous proposal of strapping a couple of outboard motors on my house and leaving town for some warmer tropical place. Awesome!!!

Some Weekend lovlies with no particular reason...

Sometimes we see things collectively with no plan. Just that they look beautiful together that day. Here are some that inspire me today.Love the white leather pouffe.
This velvet chaise is just exquisite. Love the cloud of the floor rug. Just such pretty aqua.

All the shades of pink one needs.

Ooh I'm falling in love with aqua all over again.

I think velvet is on my mind these days because I know fall isn't far away and I secretly cheer for it to come. To me Velvet is the ultimate sumptuous cozy fall texture.
I should also point out the actual jewels on the wallpaper. aahhhhh....

Edward VIII and Wallis Warfield Simpson passed into the history books as the love story of the century.
There is something about this shot that really communicates their confidence and joy. I just had to share this today. In the face of all opposing odds, beauty, love, laughter and victory is possible!!!

I thought this was pretty and don't know if they work though. It's a floor decal. Wondering if any of you have tried these yet .
I know you all work so hard all week and hope you have a restful if not a really fun weekend.
Deborah.

Design Quote for Tuesday

A person with a real flair is a gambler at heart.
Billy Baldwin

Kensington House

Well here is another beauty on the market in the U.K.These perspex die cut pieces are so gorgeous. such drama! So modern, but a touch of pretty. I think it really has the right balance.
I am flabbergasted at the uncommon creativity here. Wow!! The hanging remnants of vintage crystal lamp bases astounds me. Like a quiet
stampede. glorious perfection is all I can say!!

Comfy modern, comfy, comfy. I love the validity this floor lighting brings to the furniture and idea of sitting at this level. It all, oddly seems to make sense.

add candles and a huge pitcher of Bearnaise at each place setting and this is heaven. (of course along with beef tenderloin and roasted root vegetables....mmm.... I'm hungry. note to self. .... never write about food when your hungry.

I love these neutrals. It is what it is.

more perfect balance. This curvy feminine, shapely, exquisite furniture, is contained by the lines on the floor , window coverings and fireplace. I would love to lounge in here with the New York Times and espresso and brioche. can hardly pull myself away from this pic.

Another beautiful room in this residence, yet completely different from the last. I love the art work and again the curvy wind of seating.

So utterly poetic, and looks like someone scribbled on the wall with this mirror. You can see the sense of humor while all the while being acutely aware of the design perfection.
I must give this place a 10 out of 10

ahhh the view of how these two rooms make perfect sense. I've used the work perfect too many times in this post haven't I?
Well do let me know your thoughts on this beauty. I'm sorry I did not record the price. Perhaps just as well.
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Quote of the Day

"There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate."

Charles Dickens

All evidence points to Dickens having some sort of revelation on the delectable properties of Chocolate!

These are also Debauve and Gallais ranging from 55.00 to over 200.00

Yum Yum.....

This is apparently the most expensive chocolate dessert in the world. I think 25.000.00

I cannot scoff. Albeit has a Romanesque self indulgence attached. Who am I to judge??

This lovely box is 500.00. I think that friend to have should maybe be..... hmmmmmm Marie Antoinette perhaps??????

Oh yes! When I first found this box about 3 years ago on line from De Bauve and Gallais, I burst out laughing with delight. Somehow knowing that the French had made a perfectly justified 900.000 box of chocolates. just thrilled me. I laugh every time I think about this important piece of Paris.

mmmm... with strawberries!

I could swallow some unpleasant medicine with a few of these dainties too.

Working on my fake sour face as I type.

Introduced by Sulpice Debauve, the royal family chemist, this range of chocolate "coins" was first developed for Queen Marie Antoinette in order to ease her distaste for taking medicines. She was so delighted with them that Monsieur Debauve was commissioned to create an entire collection called the Pistoles de Marie Antoinette.(excerpt from website)

These are only 200.00

One is lovely too, when followed by another!

We never get tired of this dainty.

For the organic lovers there is this delectable. Imagine! Improving your health and ridding your body of bad, bad, very bad toxins. Well folks, I love myself that much. yes. Yes I do.

Now if your valued friend cannot bring chocolate to you.... you could always just fly to Paris (because only the original location will do) and browse in this amazing shoppe and bring the chocolate to her.
How civilized!!!
Have a fantastic weekend friends. Although not chocolate itself, I present you with the imagined counterpart!!
Deborah
