Just another shopping day!

Love these! so sophisticated and all you need with a black linen sheath dress.

This gown in Paris! yes. Fairytale design. Love the yellow in this case.

Love this paper cut installation. An incredible amount of work, but gorgeous!

Another breathtaking shot by Lillian Bassman. I love her work it's so ethereal and feminine.

This is simply still my favorite shot of any dress anywhere. Love this lighting.

Love this gorgeous hat and gown. They just don't make hats like this anymore. Oh so elegant.

Had to include a shot of Tom Dixons stage at the ICFF. He stole the show as usual, but Philippe Starck`s single lighting installation was my fave.

These lights are just spectacular!! Can you imagine walking down this road? Most ridiculously beautiful display of lights I've ever seen.

This is how I'm feeling today about summer on it's way. Long for the days at the beach in Whiterock, fish and chips, buckets, shovels , family and grandchild.

If it has to be gray with shades of black and white. This is the gray I choose. Not feeling great today so resting on my chaise in my heels and black ruffle hat.

Stopped in at "Elements Of Style" and had to forward this on!! I'm due for another brain MRI and thought wouldn't it be great to get results like this?

Black And White For Weekend Perusing

Of course some whim from Jani Guzy! I just love her work.

Love the giant graphics here. I think they work and probably could live with this.

Wow what to say? Absolutely fantastic and chic. I'm loving this !

Well if I were going to throw all my eggs into one basket... this would be the one stunner to throw your graphics into. yikes!!!

No room is complete without black stripes of some scale somewhere. Case in point.

I love the commercial look to this room and staircase. An awesome statement.

There is such a sweet balance in this redo dresser and the painting. I think this is such a great do over for the right dresser.

We are seeing more and more, black and white with gray. I think it tones the tension down a bit and softens the impact. I'm thinking of doing a room this color.

......last but not least another dreamy Jani Guzy print. She is amazing. I first saw her work here in Vancouver quite a few years ago. She has since moved to Italy and still creating. Thanks Jani!

I love the colors and the shape of these vintage style pillows on the white background here. The covered

button details run so tailored thru this whole theme.

Love the black outlines here both linear and curvy. Perfect tension. and of course the best, pink.

This is all about texture and so simple. I'm not fond of the lamp but it adds another dimension.

I'm loving these gray walls. So exquisite and accessible. I would love to do a room in this color with cream and black.

More texture. I am a big fan of black and white stripes including zebra stripes.

Kelly Hoppen's amazing eye and talent. My favorite thing here? The Barcelona ottoman of course!

Not getting tired of white anytime soon. I always feel comfortable and calm in it. It's always fresh and new and relates to clean somehow, untarnished, pure maybe. hmmmm that's something to think about.

It needs alot of texture and perhaps an understated metallic, but worth every edit to get it.

What would a great Friday be without some inspiration from Philippe Starck. I love everything about these two shots. I love the layers of color on the walls and sweet juxtapose of such beautiful Venetian mirrors and chandeliers.

If Philippe Starck is the Groucho Marx of design then Wanders is the Elvis Presley. With a rock – star like image, Wanders eschews austere minimalist concepts to create more whimsical and decorative products. The ubiquitous Dutch designer who has designed everything from furniture to audio equipment, counts among his patrons, pop-star Beyoncé Knowles and hip-hop king Jay-Z.

There are a few images that come to mind when I think of Marcel Wanders and this is one of them. This `Moon light`is just absolutely fantastical to me. I love it so much!! It really speaks to the humorous sensibilities of this genius. It`s one of his ultimate lighting creations in my opinion.

This amazing signature graphic of Marcel Wanders is on every thing from walls to handbags.....so dramatic and edgy.

This is the other image I always think of when I hear his name. The pearls on the wall installation. Just stupendous!! I love that it doesn't come under the average wall covering disciplines we know or think of . The floor is also his signature graphic.

The crochet stool is an icon piece.

The tension of curve and lines here is so provocative. It`s still feminine tho. haha. Quite a contradiction. Brilliant!!

This masterpiece is called the `CanCan Light` of course! I can hear the sounds of the Moulin Rouge and movement of miles of fabric in the Can Can skirts of days gone by. Marcel Wanders has brought it forward and made it modern and exciting. His trademark thoughts.

This is called the `Paris Mirror`from The Beautiful Woman collection. I love that he thought of a name like Beautiful Woman for a collection of chic, exquisite, pampering pieces.

He said that this is his version of camping. I could go for this any day of the week!!

From the wallpaper group Eskayel comes photos for their new line of papers which are beautiful, but completely upstaged by these heart stopping chairs.

Is it just me or are they the only thing in these photos that seem to matter?

Everything is just more beautiful when the sun is shining. All the aches go away and the heart is filled with hope. That sounds profound. haha, just daydreaming outloud. I'm more in love with white interiors than ever. Here is one that's crisp but still textural. Would love to have a latte here.

I finished recovering all my books (and I have quite a few) with white bookcovers. I know it's a little drastic, but the room is too small for the visual chaos. I wanted the color to be in artwork and cushions.

......plus just love white.

So does grandson and autographed my white Alfred Sung cushions in peanut butter, so a little light brown works with it too!

I really appreciated how the daylight she chose to use really brings the shadows out. I am still researching some more Marcel Wanders for my next post. I just can't get enough of his genius. I got to talk a little bit about him in the magazine article. Had such a great time with the editor during the interview. I thought I would be alot more nervous than I was. Hope you like these.

I thought since speaking of Chet Baker, I should post a few of my favorites. You really haven't heard music until you've heard this man play and sing. Chet Baker sings is one of my favorites along with everything else he did. lol. I've said it before it is oddly perfect to work to or relax to. Once you listen to Chet you'll be hooked.

Have fallen in love with these blues over and over again. Now I'm decorating with them. Especially that Aqua Turquoise. I find it so calming.

This is one of the ads I did for Nordstrom. It really got me and started the love for all blues.

I had a few more health issues which kept me from my blog for a few months, but am so glad to be back. I'm so inspired by all of your amazing talent. I'm pumped to get back to work and make more huge messes!

love this lacey cutout wall and polished stainless bath....... just dreaming.

...love the wrapped pillars. I have some gold and white chinoiserie banner fabric I thought of using this way. grand.

This curvy sofa looks so calm despite the color. I love the drama in his design.

I could get used to red if I had to own this piece. What do you think of the sculptural walls?

These wall panels soften so perfectly the glass wall. What amazing balance.

It's the gold tile shower that really got me here. How exquisite.

This whole room is just so provocative and chic. I think this is the ultimate vanity mirror. Why not take it to the floor? What a glorious idea. The black silhouette of the chair is like an exclamation mark so poised. The sheers are the song of this room as a backdrop to this hand sculpted tub. All I can say is wow. No words for this fantastical vanity table.

His mission quote at the beginning of this post is as exciting as his work. This Dutch designer has won every design award in the world there is to win and I suppose the most impressive of all is his appointment by Phillipe Starck to take over the Hotel division of his work worldwide in his creation "Yoo.". I am forever a fan and dreamer of his work. There are so many incredible works by this man, I think I will have to do more posts on him. Thank you Marcel Wanders for this eye candy today. Hope you enjoyed.

Happy New Year to all . A New Year . A New Day.This is the chair I create and make a mess in. I just pulled the leftover silk thru the back and didn't realize how over the top it was till I took this picture of my room. Oh well. Over the top is just so necessary sometimes. after thought.... my sons snowboard in the background brings a whole new meaning to juxtapose. ha ha
I cant say exactly why, but I am in love with this apartment. So vast and open and beautiful light.

Great use of Louis Ghosts and love the delicate little topiaries in the kitchen.

Greetings my fellow bloggers,

I have really missed you all! Had a bump in the road. I hope you are all well and I imagine you are all into the Christmas swing. I am really enjoying this time of year. Grandson's birthday is the 14th of December so this month has alot of extra joy. He's so amazing. I think I have mentioned his name is Cole Edward James and what a character. We have been watching Christmas shows for months now which is quite amazing for a 2 year old.

I did quite a few of my wallcards for Christmas and and am working on a another 3d installation. So much fun making a mess.

Edith Head is one of my favorite costume designers from the greatest days of Hollywood. She won 8 Oscars and was nominated for 35. She had a trademark for all the great dancers that I love. She would hand dye the shoes and socks of the male dancers so there would be one continuous flow of the leg, not broken up by unnecessary lines. She worked in 1131 films which is just jaw dropping. Some you probably recognize are White Christmas, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Seven Year Itch, Sabrina ,Roman Holiday , The Caddy, Houseboat with Sophia Loren, one of my faves, I love Lucy and The Greatest Show on Earth.... just to mention a few. She was eccentric, but apparently very diplomatic and went out of her way to be inclusive with her staff, which I love.

I know I have done quite a few posts on floating homes and I promise this will be my last for awhile. This idea is something I've never ever seen and therefore a little intriguing.

I must admit I could vacation here and listen to the water lap against the deck.

I have such a love for the water and have lived on the water and I applaud every attempt to get me back there. I have been looking at some floating homes locally and would really consider it in the future.

What do you think about the pod concept?

Because there is no where to grow out in Europe, the water looks like the next place to develop.

The dear friend who gave these ads to me looks like this woman in the ad and her son always thought it was a picture of her.

I was asked to post my wallcards, so I thought I would do 10 a day. They were started about 7 years ago and have been in the Pacific Northwest including Seattle and Vancouver. They are now exclusively sold thru a lovely store here called "Peridot" here in Vancouver. If you ever have a chance it is the most engaging, enchanting experience. There is simply nothing like this place.

I like to call them jewellery for the home. They look great on a door knob or a dresser pull or powder room or really anywhere without a big commitment to changing anything in your room for them. They are divided into different categories being, Children's, Carolyn Quartermaine,Vintage Parisian ads, vintage wallpaper. I love the sparkle of the glass on them! Hope you like them and if you would like to buy any, just let me know.This is from the Carolyn Quartermaine collection. She stuck this piece of silk to a rusty iron panel and left it outside. When she pulled it off, this beautiful rust patina was left. What a genius
This is from the Parisian ad collection. They were really the first category after the Eiffel Towers. Their ads (this one 1950's) were so elegant and beautiful.

These are an example of my new project. I'm printing banner fabric to upholster the chair tops and back of my Louis XV settee. The long back will be the skyline of Paris. and the chairs street signs and wrought iron scroll work. I'm really having fun and thinking of new ways of using it.

I like the cushions too, I just think it's too much all at once in one room.

Floating homes have come a long way since Sophia Loren and Cary Grant fixed up that disastrous looking one in the movie Houseboat.
This one is however in to the millions.

I have to say tho, I could handle this. This is my favorite table shape. What a perfect room for a beautiful sunset and a some Chet Baker.

Wow!! I love how metropolitan this feels, like an uptown penthouse, but still not encroached upon by streets and cars and noise. It's a contradiction of city dwelling all by itself.

So chic!

I laugh out loud at the outrageous proposal of strapping a couple of outboard motors on my house and leaving town for some warmer tropical place. Awesome!!!

Sometimes we see things collectively with no plan. Just that they look beautiful together that day. Here are some that inspire me today.Love the white leather pouffe.
This velvet chaise is just exquisite. Love the cloud of the floor rug. Just such pretty aqua.

All the shades of pink one needs.

Ooh I'm falling in love with aqua all over again.

I think velvet is on my mind these days because I know fall isn't far away and I secretly cheer for it to come. To me Velvet is the ultimate sumptuous cozy fall texture.

I should also point out the actual jewels on the wallpaper. aahhhhh....

Edward VIII and Wallis Warfield Simpson passed into the history books as the love story of the century.

There is something about this shot that really communicates their confidence and joy. I just had to share this today. In the face of all opposing odds, beauty, love, laughter and victory is possible!!!

I thought this was pretty and don't know if they work though. It's a floor decal. Wondering if any of you have tried these yet .

Well here is another beauty on the market in the U.K.These perspex die cut pieces are so gorgeous. such drama! So modern, but a touch of pretty. I think it really has the right balance.
I am flabbergasted at the uncommon creativity here. Wow!! The hanging remnants of vintage crystal lamp bases astounds me. Like a quiet

stampede. glorious perfection is all I can say!!

Comfy modern, comfy, comfy. I love the validity this floor lighting brings to the furniture and idea of sitting at this level. It all, oddly seems to make sense.

add candles and a huge pitcher of Bearnaise at each place setting and this is heaven. (of course along with beef tenderloin and roasted root vegetables....mmm.... I'm hungry. note to self. .... never write about food when your hungry.

I love these neutrals. It is what it is.

more perfect balance. This curvy feminine, shapely, exquisite furniture, is contained by the lines on the floor , window coverings and fireplace. I would love to lounge in here with the New York Times and espresso and brioche. can hardly pull myself away from this pic.

Another beautiful room in this residence, yet completely different from the last. I love the art work and again the curvy wind of seating.

So utterly poetic, and looks like someone scribbled on the wall with this mirror. You can see the sense of humor while all the while being acutely aware of the design perfection.

I must give this place a 10 out of 10

ahhh the view of how these two rooms make perfect sense. I've used the work perfect too many times in this post haven't I?

Oh yes! When I first found this box about 3 years ago on line from De Bauve and Gallais, I burst out laughing with delight. Somehow knowing that the French had made a perfectly justified 900.000 box of chocolates. just thrilled me. I laugh every time I think about this important piece of Paris.

I think I could live on one of these. Floating homes have come a long way. This beauty is very modern and sleek and doesn't look cluttered. Before my husband passed away, we had bought a 70 ft schooner and sold our house and all it's contents. We moved on to it and just loved it. I haven't been on the water since, but when I saw this one, I thought yea I could move back on the water. It's too bad you can't strap a motor onto it tho and take off. Actually maybe you can. Is this something you could go for?I love the filtered light that these wall materials create.

Although unusual, I find this installation fascinating and pretty. It reminds me of a beautiful tree in the back yard lit up on a beautiful summer night.

I love the sculpted look of Fortuny. So graceful and sureal..I am imagining the lights in this room at night reflecting off the mirror installation over the fireplace. Gosh I miss my fireplace.....

A little grand, but you get the idea.

I would also love to see this room at night.

I received a wonderful comment tonight from Janet over at French Blue,(which is one of the most exquisite collections of beautiful things) and just thought it was important to relay what I feel about what we do.

I suppose when we look and get to know ourselves, and observe all the things we thought we wouldn't like about ourselves, we later find out they may have in fact been strengths. We find out what we are, and deal with what we are not. We become acutely aware of our bottom line and what we are willing to stand up for. In that, we end up finding out what we are passionate about. We know it's there, but just have to find it. We then face the direction of our passion and we are willing to search and never leave a stone unturned until we find what we are looking for.

Creating what I think are beautiful things and then handing them over to people who get them is what my passion is. I feel so privileged to be able to move in that direction daily and the excitement of learning new techniques and never being satisfied with just that new technique. I find that compelling! We get our hands on as much info as our brains can handle and then just digest, and then go seek out more.... We are funny creatures, .... who love to create! Thank you Janet and I find you so similar in your passion.

Here's to all the women out there who have left no stone unturned !!!!

My Camellia Installation

Here a few shots of my camellia installation. It measures almost 6 feet high and almost 5 feet wide. Each petal is finished with 6 coats of medium. The final 3 coats are actual ground pearl from a Canadian company. I then sculpted each petal with heat and hand. It took about 140 hours. It is entitled "The life cycle of the camellia" I can't say too much about the new home except to say it is involved with all things Chanel. Coco Chanel loved this flower and it was her favorite. She loved how precious it was. The camellia has many faces through it's life cycle and I loved how dramatically different they all are. I tried to capture them as much as possible and had so much fun doing this. I custom measured it for a particular wall that has the most glorious, huge Swarovski crystals on a light fixture hanging in front. The colors of the crystals lit, hits the pearl finish and it's so pretty. The pictures do not do that effect justice. I miss it already. I had it delivered this week. I guess you get kind of attached after so long. ha ha. Well some had asked to see pics and here they are. Hope you like them. Do let me know what you think and leave a comment. Thanks.

This is the camellias project in their new home just leaning....was hung today. I think the most dramatic amazing thing is how just slightest changes in lighting make it a completely different color and shade.

You can see in this one a bit of the colors and beauty of the chandelier glowing on the camellias.

I designed it so this window on the left will change the face of this installation every hour of every day. Well goodbye camellias. I have been invited to visit anytime.

This beauty is by a London designer. I love the graffiti style. It's kind of a grown up version of a rebellious tirade.

These are some crazy pictures of my ceiling during the first, very long stages of my Camellia installation. My fan was blowing this night and they were all moving like sleepy fireflies. It was like a dance I got to witness.. I will post pics of the finished piece tomorrow or this weekend.

This was one batch. I should have counted all batches. Probably 250. I have really enjoyed this piece. It was an incredible challenge and learning experience. I would say it was more like sculpting.

In honor of my installation of Chanel. The camellia was Coco's favorite flower.

Ah yes and some hot haute couture to celebrate!

So Nice To Be Back!

I have missed sharing my passions and pics. So nice to be back. Missed all of you and hope you are well and having a great summer. I have been thru a few medical issues this last few weeks, but all is well and getting the hang of injecting myself with insulin. It's kind of sketchy. I get nervous and then of course the whole thing doesn't go that well. Last night made it all worth it tho. My daughter was coaching me (so cute) and held some frozen veggies on my stomach first. My grandson , Cole who is 19 months old, came in the room and saw us and as soon as the needle went in , he started clapping for me. We just broke up laughing and the needle was shaking with my hysterical laughter. Finally got it finished and will always remember that moment. haha. He is so generous and sweet.
